Decent and cheap apartments in London are definitely out there, you just have to know where to find them!
It goes without saying that if you are on a budget then you’ll need to avoid looking in central London and aim your searches for the outer zones – 3,4,5 and 6, but if you are persistent then you may be able to find a great deal in zone 2 too. If you have your heart set on a particular suburb then don’t give up, I’ve had some fantastic deals in my time in London, so they do exist!
If you are going to be commuting into central London for work it pays to be aware of transportation costs – what you think you might be saving on rent might be chewed up on travelling the additional distance. This is something you will need to work out based on the areas you are looking in and what is more important to you – cheaper rent or shorter commuting time.
